Cheney Actually Said the 'M' Word

//JW's Desknote: Yikes! The Vice-President used that word. You know...the 'M' word. Cheney approached the podium to a cheering crowd celebrating President Bush's victory, and with his family behind him, including both daughters and their significant others, said that word to the crowd. Did you hear it? No, not the joke about bringing home the State of Wyoming to the President's Red column, but that word that can rankle anyone on the opposite side of the fence...he said, "Mandate." I don't know about you, but I cringed. Yes, the President's numbers were terrific. He picked up two Blue states and only lost one, New Hampshire; and, he was very close in Wisconsin and even Michigan. But coming out and using the Mandate word might be too strong a word. I wonder about the electorate that gave the 'M' to the President. By and large the usually non-voting religious right did come out and they voted...voted in eleven states to prevent gay marriage. And, oh by the way, voted for President Bush. How ironic that the 'M' word is uttered by the President's second-in-command while standing in front of his daughters' and their significant others.//JW sends.
